Meet Renee Bottom

Rational, Fair, Balanced…. Unless I’m at a Football Game

Renee and her family chose to make Southlake their home because of the excellent academics here in Carroll.  They have a little girl in PreK and a son in first grade who LOVE being Dragons.  She comes from a family of educators; her mother had a 40-year career as a public school teacher and her husband currently teaches entrepreneurship at SMU and a venture capital course at USC.

Renee has an M.B.A. and a solid business acumen that’s sharpened by over 20 years of industry experience, where she’s been recognized for leadership and execution with multiple professional awards.

Renee’s been a trailblazer in our community by advocating for our students and working to develop a long-term strategy around our district’s fiscal battle.  She has leveraged her experience navigating the state legislature in California and applied it here in Texas, building relationships with members of the Texas House and Senate Public Education Committees and testifying on a key school funding bill in the Senate.

Understanding to create change at the state level, it takes a large share of voice, Renee organized meetings with Trustees across the state of Texas, focusing on districts in a deficit that also have the highest Robin Hood Recapture including Plano ISD, Spring Branch, and Lewisville just to name a few.  To further amplify her efforts and develop a high-impact strategy, she met with leadership from the Texas School Coalition, a group dedicated to recapture reform which has a membership of 114 ISDs across the state, including Grapevine-Colleyville and Keller.  These efforts have laid the foundation to help bring innovative solutions to Carroll ISD’s state-manufactured budget crisis.

She serves on the District Human Capital Committee and supports her local PTO.

Her family is very involved in the community through the Dragon Youth Football Program and Renee serves as a youth mentor through various programs.  Her family attends Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
